Mount Penanggungan is not of a volcano mountain, located immediately on the north side of Arjuno-Welirang volcanic mountain in East Java province, Java island. Several sanctuaries, and sacred places are located on Penanggungan mountain. I can say this mountain is dry, because when I went there with fiends of mine, we couldn’t find any spring but in Jolotundo, there’s a bathing places. This site is connected with a historical figure of Mpu Sendok. We suggest you to bring your own water to supply your necessities on the peak of this mountain, for cooking or thirst your thirsty, you must be need much water to bring with you, the heat of sun burn you from the beginning of the morning.
Hiking on mount Penanggungan is not easy, you need more energy to reach the top of the mountain, it’s not the same as the other mountain commonly, rocky ground area is found on your way tracking this mountain when it’s nearby its peak, an extra energy needed. But we didn’t take it longer time to reach on it, because we know, it is smaller than her neighbor Mt. Arjuno-Welirang or any other mountain. It about four hours summit, no rush.
We as a team have specific purpose to get there, first we are all already know, the landscape upper is much more wonderful to enjoy the stars, the city lights, and the sun gradually rises up. With a cup of coffee, can you imagine where you at that time, fantastic, This what we looking for. Secondly, we were taking some pictures, and find different landscape to capture, this is the main purpose. With the DSLR camera but uuh it’s not recommended, digital pocket camera is quite enough to capture the beauty of nature.
Guys, you can climb to reach the top from several point of departure, a full day’s climbing, but it’s paid with a dozen interesting location, the wild and the landscape, for sure.
